- Visiting Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey,
1998, 8 - 2001, 8
(Actually, I got a permanent position offer. But I couldn't accept it, because my family was in Puerto Rico. I think Bilkent is an excellent place for doing research. The students are very smart and the administrative support is very good, as well. I was very productive there, thanks to the smart students who worked with me.)
- Brain Pool (Invited Professor/Researcher), Department of Physics, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and
Technology, 1996, 8 - 1998, 8 - My First Discovery
- Novel transition between critical and localized states in a one-dimensional quasiperiodic system,
Yong-Jihn Kim, M.H. Lee, and M.Y. Choi, Phys. Rev. B 40, 2581(1989).
(I still remember the day when I first discovered this new type of transition. I got some fever of excitement and was full of joy which lasted for a few days.)
- My Second Discovery
- A New type of transition between critical and extended states in one-dimension,
Yong-Jihn Kim, J. Phys. A Lett. 24, L1339-L1344 (1991).
(After the first breakthrough, it was rather quick to discover this new type of phase transition.)
